WEB SERVERS WITH PLENTY OF RAM

Memory - The Most Important Factor in Server Performance

Today's server processors (CPU) are so fast, that they are very rarely the limiting factor in server performance. Instead, the amount and speed of memory (RAM) in a server has become the most important factor in performance.

Crucial recently published a white paper documenting the dramatic effect that increasing memory has on server performance. The bottom line is that simply increasing server memory resulted in performance increases from 70% to 800%. is like air to a web server. If it doesn't have enough RAM, it will choke and eventually fail.

Memory - We Have Plenty

Our experience with upgrading server memory closely mirrors what Crucial found in their study. More memory in a server can only improve performance. Sometimes it can make such a difference in performance, a simple memory upgrade can cause a server to perform twice as fast or faster than it did before.

At the time of this writing, all of our servers have at least 512 MB of RAM. Most of our servers have 1 GB of RAM or more. Plus, we constantly upgrade our servers to improve server performance. <%@ include file="/ssi/learn-about-sales-links.jsp" %>
