First, every one of our servers monitors itself. We install a special software tool called chkservd. The chkservd software is configured to monitor the critical services on the server every few minutes. If it finds a service down or non-responsive, it automatically restarts it - and dispatches an email to the server owner. In many cases if a service, such as the Apache web server stops responding, chkservd will automatically restart it, and you'll never know it was down at all.
Second, we monitor all servers constantly using our internal monitoring tool. This tool checks the status of all servers every 5 minutes, all day. Through the network and server status page, our technicians get a clear view of the status of all servers. Should a problem ever arise, it is quickly noted and addressed.
Third, we contract with WebSitePulse.com, a 3rd party automated monitoring service to monitor each and every server 24/7/365. WebSitePulse.com checks that all servers respond via HTTP and SSH every 5 minutes, all day, every day. WebSitePulse.com performs remote server checks from two different locations, one in Miami, Florida, USA and the other is from Los Angeles, California, USA. If at any time a server fails to respond, our technicians get notified automatically via pager - and they immediately start working on the server to resolve the problem.
All of our technicians have pagers that they carry 24 hours a day. If there is a problem, we get notified right away and we get on it right away. Chances are, if there ever is a problem - we will already be working on fixing it before you know it exists.
We maintain an extensive collection of manuals and documentation, all online and easy to use. Our Knowledge Base contains hundreds of articles answering common questions, links to manualls, and troubleshooting tips. In addition our Knowledge Base is searchable, so you can find exactly what you're looking for, without having to read through unrelated articles or hunt blindly through all of the documentation.
